I have started the 2025 Jack-o-Lanterns!
This year they are a dark brown/black gloss with bronze highlights.
I have been busy in the studio making new ware and work. The next glaze burn will hopefully be the week of May 20th.
The first weekend in May always brings up memories of 33 years ago and the opening of my shop in New Orleans. What an experience & one that I would not trade for anything. It was 517 Wilkinson Row in the French Quarter. The realtor said it was a challenge location and was that ever the understatement. It is one of the quietest streets in New Orleans and a very profitable one for the city, towing and booting cars illegally parked. I was in business there for a little over 18 months before a drug store opened on Decatur Street and wanted my space for the drug store. Many interesting and fun memories. This closing gave me the opportunity to open my little shop on the grounds of The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Al. which I kept open for about 1 year before moving all the ware back to the pottery at Clay City. The Clay City shop was & is the production location and funded all the outside ventures.
